WELCOME
Empowering the Mercer Island Community Through Art Education for Over 50 Years
OUR MISSION
The FAAC has evolved through several decades of intensive volunteer work by parents and other community leaders dedicated to fine arts education in the Mercer Island School District (MISD). With thorough research and tireless advocacy, volunteer members of FAAC’s predecessor organizations – the Music and Visual Arts Advisory Committees, formed respectively in the late 1950’s and 1970’s – proposed, promoted and achieved implementation of several key components of our schools’ fine arts programming.

ART & EDUCATION
Governor Inslee proclamation about the Arts
The state of Washington recognizes the arts as a core academic subject and an essential element of a complete balanced education. "Learning in and through the arts enables students to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills, imagination and creativity, perseverance, alternative ways to communicate and express feelings and ideas, and cross-cultural understanding and empathy, which supports academic success across the curriculum as well as personal growth outside of the class room.”- Governor Jay Inslee
